Author Guidelines

General Principles

Manuscripts submitted to the Çukurova Journal of Mental Health must be original, must not have been previously published elsewhere, and must not be under simultaneous consideration by another journal.

The journal’s official languages for scientific publication are Turkish and English. All submitted manuscripts must include an English title, abstract, and keywords.

Manuscripts must be prepared as Microsoft Word files; the page size should be A4 (210 × 297 mm), with all margins set to 2.5 cm.

The Çukurova Journal of Mental Health employs a double-blind peer review system. Therefore, a blinded main text file—without the authors’ identities or institutional information—and a separate title page containing the authors’ information must be prepared for submission.

Authors’ names, academic and institutional information, contact details, and ORCID numbers must be entered completely into the submission system.

For studies previously presented at conferences or symposia, the name, date, and location of the event must be specified.

Original Research Articles

Original research articles should cover basic or clinical research. The article must consist of the following sections: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion.

The English abstract should not exceed 250 words and must be structured under the headings: Objective, Materials and Methods, Results, and Conclusion. The abstract must include 3–6 keywords at the end.

The main text, excluding the abstract, references, and tables, must not exceed 5,000 words; the number of references must not exceed 50.

Review Articles

Review articles are studies that critically and up-to-date evaluate the existing scientific knowledge on a specific topic.

The English abstract should not exceed 250 words and should be unstructured. The main text should be organized using appropriate headings and subheadings.

The review text, excluding the abstract, references, and tables, should not exceed 5,000 words, and the number of references should not exceed 90.

Case Reports

Case reports should be studies that describe rare or scientifically instructive clinical conditions, previously unreported symptoms, treatment approaches, or complications.

Case reports must include an unstructured English abstract, and the main text should be prepared using section headings appropriate to the nature of the study. All information that could lead to the identification of the patient must be removed, and written informed consent must be obtained from the patient or their legal representative when necessary.

Letter to the Editor

Letters to the editor contain brief opinions and evaluations regarding studies published in the journal or current scientific topics in the field of mental health. The text should not exceed 1,000 words, and the number of references should not exceed 5.

Abstract and Keywords

The abstract should not include references to tables, figures, or sources. The number of keywords should be between 3 and 6, and English keywords should be selected to align with Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terminology as much as possible.

References

The Çukurova Journal of Mental Health uses the APA 7th Edition (APA 7) citation system. The reference list must be arranged alphabetically, and every citation in the text must be listed in the reference list. Every reference listed in the reference list must also be cited within the text.

If a reference has a DOI number, the DOI information must be included.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures must be numbered in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text. Table captions should appear above the table, and figure captions below the figure. Images must have sufficient resolution and be of publishable quality. If a previously published table, figure, or image is used, it is the authors’ responsibility to obtain the necessary permission.

Abbreviations, Units of Measurement, and Statistics

Non-standard abbreviations should be avoided; when an abbreviation is used, its full form must be written out the first time it appears, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses. The International System of Units (SI) must be used for measurements.

The statistical methods and software used must be described in sufficient detail.

Ethics Committee and Declarations

For studies requiring ethics committee approval, the committee’s name, decision date, and decision number must be specified, and the relevant document must be uploaded to the system at the time of submission. For studies involving human participants, informed consent must be obtained; where necessary, additional patient consent for publication must also be obtained.

Information regarding author contributions, conflicts of interest, and financial support must be disclosed in the relevant sections.

Submissions are accepted only through the DergiPark online manuscript submission system.
