“ÇOCUĞUYLA OYNAYAN ANNE” RESMİYLE MARY CASSATT

Abstract

Bu makalenin konusunu ardından gelen pek çok sanatçı ve özellikle portre ressamına ilham veren, ilk kadın Kuzey Amerikalı feminist, aynı zamanda ünlü İzlenimci ressam Mary Cassatt ve “Çocuğuyla Oynayan Anne” isimli eseri oluşturur. Bu çalışmanın amacı Marry Cassatt’ın ilgili eseri ve konu seçkisi üzerinden ressamın sanat hayatını değerlendirmek ve ressamla ilgili alanyazına katkı sağlamaktır. Bu bağlamda Mary Cassatt’ın hem Amerikan kültüründe yetişmesi, hem de 19. yüzyıl ressamı olması nedeniyle çalışma içinde 19. yüzyılda Amerikan resim sanatına yer verilmiştir. Mary Cassatt’ın eserlerindeki konu seçkisini yorumlamak, onun nasıl bir yaşantı sürdüğünü konusunda bilgi sahibi olmayı gerektirir. Bu nedenle ressamın biyografisine değinilmiş ve üslubunu belirgin biçimde ortaya koyan eserleri seçilerek, çalışmada bu eserler değerlendirilmiştir.
