Year 2012, Volume: 21 Issue: 1, 339 - 356, 01.03.2012

Abstract

Aim of this study is the determination of the relationship between economic growth and energy consumption in OECD countries between 1987 and 2007 employing the variables as primary energy consumption and gross domestic product Econometric techniques and panel data set panel unit root test and panel cointegration test have applied Long term cointegration between primary energy concumption and gross domestic product has been investigated and has reached the conclusion that there exist a relation between the two variables as the economic theory has stated Keywords: Economic growth Energy consumption Cointegration

Abstract

Çalışmamızda amaç ekonomik büyüme ile enerji tüketimi arasındaki ilişkinin ampirik olarak ortaya konulmasıdır Çalışmamızda 1987 2007 döneminde OECD ülkeleri için birincil enerji tüketimi ile gayrisafi yurtiçi hasıla arasında eşbütünleşme ilişkisi aranmıştır Söz konusu ekonometrik çalışma için panel veri seti kullanılmış panel birim kök ve panel eşbütünleşme koentegrasyon testleri uygulanmıştır Söz konusu sınama sonucunda birincil enerji tüketimi ile gayri safi yurtiçi hasıla değişkenlerinin uzun dönemde eşbütünleşik oldukları sonucuna varılmıştır Söz konusu ekonometrik sonuçlar ekonomik büyüme ile enerji tüketimi arasında teorik olarak var olduğu kabul edilen ilişkiyi doğrular niteliktedir Anahtar kelimeler: Ekonomik büyüme Enerji tüketimi Eşbütünleşme
