This study was conducted to detect and characterize Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) in greenhouse-grown pepper plants in the provinces of Adana, Mersin, Antalya, and Hatay. Leaf and shoot samples were collected from 263 plants, and in some cases, fruits and seeds were also used, resulting in a total of 300 samples analyzed. DAS-ELISA detected 62 positive and 23 suspicious samples. Sixteen positive samples were analyzed by RT-PCR, yielding 650 bp bands. Sequence analysis of eight selected isolates revealed 95–98% similarity both among themselves and with CMV isolates previously reported from Türkiye and various other countries.

Bu çalışma, örtü altı biber bitkilerinde Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV)’ün saptanması ve karakterizasyonu amacıyla Adana, Mersin, Antalya ve Hatay illerinde yürütülmüştür. 263 bitkiden yaprak ve sürgün örnekleri toplanmış, bazı örneklerde meyve ve tohumlar da kullanılarak toplam 300 örnek çalışılmıştır. DAS-ELISA ile 62 pozitif, 23 şüpheli örnek belirlenmiştir. Pozitiflerden 16’sı RT-PCR ile analiz edilmiş ve 650 bp’lik bantlar elde edilmiştir. Seçili 8 izolatın dizileri, hem kendi aralarında hem de Türkiye ve diğer ülkelerden bildirilen CMV izolatlarıyla %95–98 oranında benzerlik göstermiştir.
