Determination of the Amount of Nutrients Uptake From Soil in Satsuma Mandarin (I)-Macro Elements

Abstract

Citrus fruits (mandarin, orange, grapefruit and lemon) have an important place in the World fresh fruit trade. Production volume has increased nearly double worldwide over the past decade and it reached nearly 136 million tons in 2013 (FAO, 2016). The share of Turkey in this production is about 3.7 million tons. As for that 1 million ton of part of 28 million tons of mandarin produced (2014) worldwide belongs to Turkey (FAO, 2016). According to FAO data for 2012, our country has undertaken being the fourth in the world mandarin production after China, Spain and Brazil (FAO, 2016). The fertilization of Citrus Fruits, which is a fruit group highly important economically, is quite important in terms of increasing its market value.

It is required to know different parts of plant and the amounts of nutrients uptake from the soil should be known in order to prepare fertilization programs in mandarin production. For this purpose, fruit samples were taken from the gardens located in Izmir and surrounding, in which mandarin production is widely made in the Aegean Region, and the samples were analyzed and thus it was aimed to determine the amounts of macro nutrients uptake from the soil with the fruits.
