Year 2007, Volume: 13 Issue: 33, 105 - 123, 01.12.2007

Abstract

Some indications of the original decorations are found in a photograph from the Conway Library at the Courtauld Institute in London, taken c. 1936, which shows what currently lies hidden or lost Fig. 7 .5 Six panels depict The Descent from the Cross, The Entombment, The Death of the Virgin, an image of a Bishop, The Presentation of Christ at the Temple and The Baptism of Christ. This is what Enlart saw in 1896 and what was also described by Jeffery in 1917. Both complained of the advanced state of disrepair of the frescoes, not least because the church had been used as a stable until 1907
