Abstract
The Quran -being the last divine and holy message book- has many different naming (Furkan, Mecîd, Ruh, etc.) and the word Quran, among other names, is the most used one. Both Islamic schoolars and orientalists stated/revealed their views and reasons about the origin and meaning(s) of this word (Quran). Although the word Quran is an Arabic word, most of the orientalists’ search for the origion of the word Quran in other languages had the objective of proving the Quran not being a holly and original book. This attempt is of highly imprortance. In this article the origion and meanings of the word Quran were investigated.
Abstract
Son ilâhî mesaj olan Kur’ân-Kerîm’in çeşitli isimleri olup bunlar arasında en fazla kullanılanı “Kur’ân” lafzıdır. Söz konusu kelimenin kökü ve bu kökün ifade ettiği mana(lar) hakkında hem İslâm âlimleri ve hem de şarkiyatçılar tarafından çeşitli görüş ve gerekçeler serdedilmiştir. Müsteşriklerin büyük çoğunluğunun, Arapça asıllı olduğu halde “Kur’ân” kelimesinin kökünü başka dillerde aramaları, Kur’ânı’n orijinal bir ilâhî kitap olmadığını ispatlamaya yönelik olduğundan düşündürücü görünmektedir. İşte bu küçük çaplı etüdümüzde, “Kur’ân” lafzının türediği kökü ve bu kökün ifade ettiği anlam(lar) üzerinde bir nebze durmaya çalıştık
