Abstract
This paper aims at exploring the notion of political authority within the context of political theology as developed by Asharite theologians in terms of their own conception. Asharite theologians had generally taken harmonious and obedient position with regard to political authority and his authoritative practices. The disorders and struggles which took place within Islamic societies paved the way for the appearance of absolute obedience to the ruler as a legitimate idea. Furthermore, the doctrine of “predestination” (jabr) and “absolute divine power” made a relative contribution in widespreading of the notion of absolute obedience among people. For this reason, the notions of democracy, pluralism, political participation and control mechanism could not find a proper basis for gaining political significance in Islamic world.
Abstract
Bu çalışma, Eş‘arî kelamcılarca kendilerine özgü anlayışla geliştirilen siyasal teoloji bağlamında siyasal otorite kavramını ele almayı amaçlamaktadır. Eş‘arî kelamcılar, siyasal otorite ve onun otoriter uygulamaları karşısında genellikle itaatkâr ve uzlaşmacı bir tutum sergilemişlerdir. İslam toplumlarında meydana gelen iç karışıklıklar ve savaşlar meşru bir fikir olarak yöneticiye mutlak boyun eğmenin yerleşmesine zemin hazırlamıştır. Ayrıca cebr ve mutlak ilâhî kudret doktrini de halk arasında mutlak itâat anlayışının yayılmış olmasına nispî bir katkıda bulunmuştur. Bunun için, İslam dünyasında demokrasi, çoğulculuk, siyasal katılım ve denetim mekanizması siyasal ehemmiyet kazanmak için uygun bir temel bulamamıştır.
