ARGE HARCAMALARININ EKONOMİK BÜYÜME ÜZERİNE ETKİSİ: BRICS-T ÜLKELERİ İÇİN PANEL VERİ ANALİZİ

Abstract

Modern ekonomilerin temel dinamiklerinden biri olan araştırma ve geliştirme (Ar-Ge) harcamaları, yeniliği teşvik ederek, üretkenliği artırarak ve yeni pazar fırsatları yaratarak ekonomik büyümeyi artırmada önemli bir yere sahiptir. Özellikle bilgi ekonomisinin ön plana çıktığı günümüzde Ar-Ge harcamalarının ekonomik büyüme üzerine etkisi çeşitli çalışmalara konu olmuş gelişmiş ve gelişmekte olan ülkeler için önemine değinilmiştir. Araştırma ve geliştirme harcamalarının ekonomik kalkınmanın itici gücü olabildiği ifade edilebilmektedir. Ekonomik büyümenin rekabet gücü sağlayabilen yeni ürünlerle desteklenmesi ekonomik büyüme de Ar-Ge’nin rolünü ön plana çıkarmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı 2003-2020 yılları aralığında Ar-Ge harcamalarının ekonomik büyüme üzerindeki etkisini panel veri analizi yöntemi ile BRICS-T ülkeleri için araştırmaktır. Panel veri analizi sonuçlarına göre araştırma geliştirme harcamalarının ekonomik büyüme üzerine etkisi istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ve pozitiftir. Başka bir deyişle Ar-Ge harcamalarında meydana gelen artışın ekonomik büyümeyi artırdığı sonucuna varılmıştır.

THE IMPACT OF R&D EXPENDITURES ON ECONOMIC GROWTH: PANEL DATA ANALYSIS FOR BRICS-T COUNTRIES

Abstract

Research and development (R&D) expenditures, a fundamental dynamics of modern economies, play a crucial role in fostering economic growth by promoting innovation, increasing productivity and creating new market opportunities. Especially in today's knowledge-based economy, the impact of R&D expenditures on economic growth has been widely studied, highlighting its significance for developed and developing countries. It can be stated that research and development expenditures can be the driving force of economic development. Supporting economic growth with new products that can provide competitiveness emphasizes the role of R&D in economic growth. The aim of this study is to examine the impact of R&D expenditures on economic growth in BRICS-T countries from2003 to 2020 using the panel data analysis method. According to the results of panel data analysis, the effect of R&D expenditures on economic growth is statistically significant and positive. In other words, an increase in R&D expenditures leads to higher economic growth.
