Abstract

Abstract

In general definition, the valve seat insert is an important engine component in the cylinder head of internal combustion engines, which provides sealing by contacting the valve seat surface. In order for both the exhaust and intake valves to function properly, valve seat inserts also need to work perfectly. Failures that effects the performance of the engine on the surface of valve and valve seat. Heavy-duty diesel engines are high-volume engines used in vehicles that require high power supply. The scope of this research is valve seats and researchers focused on the heavy-duty diesel engine valve seats. Information about the exhaust valve seats was given, and the damages on the exhaust valve seats of a sample diesel locomotive heavy-duty engine were evaluated. Images and sections were taken from the samples and explanations were given.
