The aim of this research
is to examine the problems encountered in secondary school religion, morality
and values elective courses in accordance with the opinions of teacher. The research
is structured in a qualitative research model. The working group of this
research consists of 24 DKAB teachers who worked in various secondary schools
and taught elective religion courses in Malatya province center during the
2018-2019 academic year. The data in the study was collected using
semi-structured interview forms. The majority of the teachers pointed to
various problems arising from student, teacher, parent and school
administration in the conduct of elective religious courses. According to the
participants, parents and students’ opinions are not adequately reflected in
the selection process of the elective courses. In addition, although there are
sufficient number of teachers for elective religious courses, teacher
proficiency is not at the desired level.
