A Critical View Over the Style of Handling the Subjects and Assesment Questions in a Turkish and an English History Textbook

Abstract

Every community teaches its own history to their childrens. It can be used with various aims. So, it has been critisized much. These critics are not only about its misuse but also its textbooks. Our intention is to glance at the way of the narration of the topics and the questions of evaluation in the textbooks. Therefore, the aim of this study is to compare with English and Turkish history textbooks and contribute the modern Tıırkish history textbooks to be written in the future. I will not compare with all topics in the textbooks. I will only dwell upon the topics of "Exploration and Conquest and Renaissance". In this study, I will asses "the way of narration of the topics and the questions of evaluation in the history textbooks.
