The Comparison of the Quality of Life and Level of Anxiety between the Students who have Rhinits and those who do not have

Abstract

Allergic rhinits (AR), more commonly known as "hay fever" is one of the most common diseases worldwide. A main symptom of this disease is a reduction in the patient's quality of life, largely by undermining the restorative power of sleep. Another variable which is considered to have relationship with AR is anxiety. The aim of this study is to examine the differences between university students with AR and without AR with regards to their quality of life and anxiety levels. The World Health Organization's "WHOQOL-BREF" was used to assess the quality of life levels and "State-Trait Anxiety Inventory" was used to assess the anxiety levels of the students. As a result of the analysis, students with AR (n=72) have significantly lower levels of quality of life and significantly higher levels of anxiety (p<.01) than students without AR (n=74).
