ETRÜSK SANATINDA YERALTI DÜNYASININ YOL GÖSTERİCİLERİ ÖLÜ DEMONLARI

Abstract

İtalya’nın Etruria Bölgesi’nde yaşamış ve bölgeye isimlerini vermiş olan Etrüskler, çok kültürlü bir toplum ve sanat yapısına sahiptirler. Birçok farklı toplumla etkileşim halinde olan Etrüsklerin, sanat eserlerinde özellikle Hellen sanatının etkileri yadsınamaz. Fakat tüm bu çok katmanlı ve çok kültürlü sanatsal yapı içinde özgünlüklerini korumayı başarmışlar ve etkilendikleri konuları bile sanat eserleriyle somut hale getirirken kendilerine has bir şekilde betimlemişlerdir. Bu bağlamda Etrüsk mezar sanatında yer alan eserlerdeki betimlerde karşımıza çıkan yeraltı dünyası ve ölü demonları iyi birer örnektir. Etrüsk yeraltı krallığı veya diğer ismiyle ölüler dünyası ile ilgili ikonografi, antik Hellen yazarlarından Homeros’un ve Hesiodos’un eserlerindeki ifadelerle ve konuyla ilgili Hellen mitleri çerçevesinde şekillenmiştir. Fakat Etrüskler bu konuyu betimlerken açıkça kendine özgü yeniliklerini ve yaratıcı zekalarını incelikle ortaya koymuşlardır. Böylece Etrüsk sanat eserleri üzerindeki yeraltı dünyasıyla ilgili betimlerde kadın ve erkek ölü demonları ortaya çıkmıştır. İsimlerini eserler üzerindeki yazıtlardan, ikonografilerini ise eserlerdeki betimlerinden bildiğimiz bu demonlar; Vanth, Culsu, Charu ve Tuchulca figürleridir. Bu demonlara ek olarak eserlerde görülen ismi, kimliği belirsiz olan demonlar da bulunmaktadır. Kısacası ölü demonlarının betimlendiği örnekler üzerinden Etrüsklerin Hellen etkili yeraltı dünyasıyla ilgili mitleri kendi tarzlarında ustaca yorumladıkları ve kendilerine has demon figürleriyle ortaya nasıl bir ikonografi çıkardıkları görülmektedir.

DEAD DEMONS, GUIDES OF THE UNDERGROUND WORLD IN ETRUSCAN ART

Abstract

Etruscans, who lived in the Etruria Region of Italy and gave their names to the region, have a multicultural society and artistic structure. The influence of the Etruscans, who interacted with many different societies, and especially the Hellenic art in their artworks, is undeniable. However, they have managed to preserve their uniqueness. In this context, the underground world and the dead demons that we encounter in the descriptions in the artworks in the Etruscan tomb art are good examples. The iconography of the Etruscan underground kingdom or the world of the dead, in other words, was shaped by the expressions in the works of the ancient Hellenic writers Homer and Hesiod, and within the framework of the Hellenic myths on the subject. But the Etruscans have clearly demonstrated their uniqueness and creative intelligence in describing this subject. Thus, male and female dead demons emerged in the descriptions of the underground kingdom on Etruscan works of art. These demons, whose names we know from the inscriptions on the artifacts and their iconography from their descriptions in the artifacts, are the figures of Vanth, Culsu, Charu and Tuchulca. In addition to these demons, there are also unidentified demons seen in the works. In short, it is seen how the Etruscans skillfully interpreted the myths of the Hellenic underworld in their own way and what kind of iconography they created with their own demon figures, through the examples in which the dead demons were depicted.
