Abstract
Psychology studies man, science of literature deals with literary works of him. These
two fields inevitably feed each other and have the same aim of understanding human. Psychology and science of literature first encountered by means of
psychoanalytical literary approach. Gestalt therapy is another theory of
psychotherapy which can provide new perspectives to reader when it is used as a
tool for analyzing literary pieces.
In this study the history lies behind Gestalt Therapy Theory and its basic concepts
will be presented and then Gestalt approach will be introduced as a tool for literary
criticism. Servi which is one of the poems of Sabahattin Ali will be analyzed
through Gestalt approach as an application.

Abstract
Psikoloji, insanı; edebiyat bilimi ise onun kaleminden veya dilinden dökülenleri ele
alır. İnsanı anlamak amacında birleşen ve birbirini kaçınılmaz olarak besleyen bu iki
alanın kesiştiği ilk nokta psikanalitik edebiyat eleştirisi olmuştur. Gestalt terapisi ise
bir başka psikoterapi kuramı olup prensipleri edebî eser incelemelerinde araç olarak
kullanıldığında okura şimdiye kadar denenmemiş, yepyeni bir perspektif
sunabilecektir.
Bu çalışmada, Gestalt Terapisi Kuramı’nın temelinde yatan tarihi arka plan ve
kuramın temel kavramları irdelendikten sonra edebiyat eleştirisinin bu bakış açısıyla
nasıl yapılabileceği tartışılacaktır. Bir uygulama olarak Sabahattin Ali’nin Servi adlı
şiiri, Gestalt bakış açısıyla değerlendirilecektir.
