DOMİNİKEN RAHİBİ VİNCENT DE BEAUVAİS’NİN TÜRK TARİHİ AÇISINDAN ÖNEMİ ÜZERİNE BİR DEĞERLENDİRME

Abstract

13. yüzyıl Anadolu, Mısır ve Orta Doğu için dönüm noktası olmuştur. Bir yandan Moğol atlıları, bir yandan Haçlı birlikleri, Türk-Müslüman coğrafyasını çevrelemişti. Türkiye Selçukluları iç çekişmelerden yıpranmış günden güne güç kaybediyordu. Eyyübiler, Haçlı birlikleriyle mücadeleden ve Melikler arası çekişmelerden zayıflamıştı. Abbasi Halifeliği ise Moğollar tarafından tarih sahnesinden silinecekti. Doğu dünyasından hal böyleyken Dominiken rahip Vincent de Beauvais, Fransa’da büyük bir öneme ve üne sahip olarak 1184/1194-1264 tarihleri arasında yaşamıştır. IX. Louis’in emriyle kraliyetin eğitim alanındaki tüm sorumluluğu üzerine alan bir bilim insanı, mentör, danışman olmuştur. Kral IX. Louis ve annesi Kastilyalı Blanche ile yakın ilişki kurmuştur. Siyasi otorite ile kurulan yakınlık Vincent de Beauvais için Kraliyet kütüphanesine ve dolayısıyla birçok esere ulaşma imkânı sağlamıştır. Böylelikle entelektüel biriktimini arttırmıştır. Yazdığı birçok eserin yanında en önemlisi şüphesiz Latince kaleme aldığı derleme XXXII ciltten oluşan Speculum Historiale (Tarihin aynası) adlı eserdir. Vincent hiçbir zaman Doğu’yu görmedi. O, Papalık aracılığıyla Moğollara gönderilen elçilerin notlarını düzenledi. Bunun sonucunda oluşturduğu Speculum Historiale’nin son üç cildi hem Moğol tarihi hem de Türk-İslam tarihi açısından önemli bilgileri barındırmaktadır. Bu çalışma, Vincent de Beauvais’in bir kaynak olarak Türk-İslam tarihine etkisini ortaya koymayı hedeflemektedir. Öte yandan kaynağın Türk-İslam tarihinde hangi noktalara temas ettiği açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır.

AN EVALUATION ON THE IMPORTANCE OF THE DOMINIAN PRIEST VIINCENT OF BEAUVAIS FOR TURKISH HISTORY

Abstract

The 13th century was a milestone for Anatolia, Egypt and the Middle East. Mongol horsemen on the one hand and Crusader troops on the other, surrounded the Turkish-Muslim world. The Seljuks of Turkey were worn out by internal conflicts and were losing power day by day. The Ayyubids were weakened by the struggle against the Crusaders and the conflicts between the Maliks. The Abbasid Caliphate was to be eradicated from the scene of history by the Mongols. While the situation in the Eastern world was like this, the Dominican priest Vincent de Beauvais, who was of great importance and fame in France, lived between 1184/1194-1264. He was a scientist, mentor and counsellor who, by order of Louis IX, took full responsibility for the royal education. He established a close relationship with King Louis IX and his mother Blanche of Castile. This close relationship with the royal family provided Vincent de Beauvais the opportunity to access countless works. Among the many works he wrote, the most important is undoubtedly his Speculum Historiale (Mirror of History), a collection of XXXII volumes written in Latin. Vincent never saw the East. He organised the points of the envoys sent to the Mongols through the Papacy. As a result, the last three volumes of the Speculum Historiale contain important information on both Mongol history and Turkish-Islamic history. This study aims to reveal the the impact of vincent beauvais as a source on turkish-islamic history. On the other side, it has been tried to explain which points in turkish-islamic history the source touches upon.
