Abstract

In this study, Earthquake-Soil-Structure interaction were examined under dynamic conditions (earthquake) by geophysical methods. Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW) and microtremor measurements were used in this study which were applied in TUBITAK 106G159 project at 21 stations. Also period sensitivity region can be used to define common behavior characteristics of earthquake-soil-structure according to soil characteristics. Preliminary information were obtained about soil thickness using S wave velocity from MASW studies. In addition,vulnerability index (Kg) were calculated using Quasi Transfer Spectrum from microtremor data for horizontal deformation which will be occured ground surface during an earthquake.IIn the study area, peak amplitude values in QTS are more dominant with 3-5 sec periods at these sites. Similarly, Kg values reach up to more than 20 at the sites close to sea. According to these results, common behaviour of soilstructure will be sensitive to displacement during an earthquake and lateral deformation should be expected much. Because of Vs where were measured at 40 meter is smaller than 760 m/sec, soil thickness more than about 30 meter. In this condition, we suggest that using in-situ design spectras instead of design spectrum in regulations while designing earthquake resistant building will be built in the study area
