SPECTRUAL STUDIES AND LITHOLOGICAL APPROACHES ON SEISMIC FIELD DATA

Abstract

The amplitude and phase spectrum of a seismic signal are found by its Fourier Transform as a function of frequency. The amplitude spectrum of the signal reflects the frequency content. On the other hand, its phase spectrum demonstrates the initial starting conditions of the signal at different frequencies. There are some signals with similar amplitude spectrum but different phase spectrum. So, it is not sufficient to define a seismic signal just only by looking at its amplitude spectrum. Therefore, its phase spectrum has to be identified as well. To set up a relation between the amplitude and phase spectrum with their reel and imaginary components is useful and can provide interesting results. In this study, the Argand diagrams of seismic refractions were investigated and subsurface lithology was interpreted by using these diagrams. As a result of this study, it was shown that pressure waves could be separated and their Argand diagrams could turn out different for different lithologies.

SİSMİK ARAZİ VERİLERİ ÜZERİNDE SPEKTRUM ÇALIŞMALARI VE LİTOLOLOJİK YAKLAŞIMLAR

Abstract

Bir sismik sinyalin Fourier Dönüşümü ile frekansa bağlı genlik ve faz spektrumu elde edilir. Genlik spektrumu sinyalin frekans içeriğini oluşturur. Faz spektrumu ise sinyali oluşturan farklı frekanslardaki dalgaların başlangıç durumlarını saptar. Bazı sinyaller vardır ki, bunların genlik spektrumları aynı olduğu halde faz spektrumları farklı olabilmektedir. Bu yüzden bir sismik sinyali tanımlamak için sadece genlik spektrumuna bakmak yeterli değildir. Aynı zamanda faz spektrumu da incelenmelidir. Genlik ve faz veya benzer anlamda spektrumun gerçel ve özellikle sanal bileşenleri arasında bir ilişki kurmak yararlı ve ilginç sonuçlar doğurabilmektedir. Bu çalışmada, arazide sismik çalışmalar sırasında süreksizlik yüzeylerinden kırılarak gelen sismik sinyallerin Argand diyagramları incelenerek, çeşitli tabakaların litolojik yorumlarına gidilmiştir. Bu çalışmada, yeraltında yayılan cisim dalgalarının Argand diyagramları ile kalitatif olarak ayırt edilebileceği ve farklı litolojilerde farklı Argand diyagramlarının elde edilebileceği ortaya konmuştur. Sismik kırılma kaydı sinyallerinin Argand diyagramları ile yorumu ilk nitelik olması açısından önemlidir.
