AN INVESTIGATION OF SOME BEHAVIORS OF LED AT PULSED HIGH CURRENTS
Abstract
If pulse duration and (pulse duration/period) ratio are chosen suitable in pulsed operation high currents
can be passed through the LED. The radiant power of LED is proportional with LED current, so, if current is
increased more radiant power can be handle. In this study the behavior of LED at pulsed high currents has
been investigated.
For this, designing the necessary measuring circuits and measuring methods the electrical and optical
behavior of LED at pulsed high currents are examined. The variation of LED current with LED voltage and the
variation of instantaneous resistance of LED (voltage drop on LED/the current amplitude of current pulse) with
LED current at high currents are determined. According to amplitude and duration of current pulse the changes
of radiant power are examined. The thermal affect on radiant power at pulsed high currents is showed. Drawing
radiant diagrams at high pulsed currents the changes on these diagrams at high pulsed currents are specified.
