AN INVESTIGATION ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF POLYETHYLENE AND POLYPROPYLENE

Abstract

In this study, firstly, the mechanical properties of polypropylene, low-density polyethylene
and high-density polyethylene have been determined by tensile testing. Secondly, the effect of
ultraviolet (UV) beams on the mechanical properties of polypropylene and polyethylene has
been studied.
On the other hand, in addition to changing the density of the materials by deformation, the
behaviour of specimens exposed to UV beam and original specimens in dry temperature has
been studied

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, ilk önce çekme deneyi ile polipropilen (PP), alçak yoğunluklu polietilen (AYPE) ve yüksek yoğunluklu polietilenin (YYPE) mekanik özellikleri belirlenmiştir. Daha sonra, ultraviyole (UV) ışınlarına tabi tutulan polietilen (PE) ve polipropilenin mekanik özelliklerine UV ışınlarının etkisi araştırılmıştır. Öte yandan, deformasyonun malzemelerin yoğunluklarını değiştirmesine ek olarak, UV ışınına tabi tutulmuş numunelerle, UV ışınına tabi tutulmamış olanların kuru sıcaklık ortamındaki davranışları incelenmiştir
