Abstract

Literature is an interdisciplinary science that deals with all kinds of subjects related to human beings and society. The pains and joys experienced by individuals and societies are expressed by poets and writers, enabling the transmission of these experiences to future generations. Earthquakes, which hold a significant place among natural events, also have an important position in our literature. Poets and writers express their experiences of earthquakes from different perspectives with the sensibility of a poet or writer. This study will examine the attitude and feelings of Arif Nihat Asya, who prioritized national and spiritual feelings, towards the earthquakes he witnessed and experienced during his time. Arif Nihat Asya sees earthquakes as a warning from Allah, as a divine punishment and wrath within deviated societies. Generally, the poet addresses the earthquake in his poems from this perspective, evaluating the destroyed towns and deceased individuals from the window of fate. However, despite this perspective, he cannot refrain from questioning himself in the face of so many deaths befalling a nation that has served Islam. While the death of individuals is perceived as a divine fate, he also expresses his sorrow for the earthquake's destruction of historical and cultural heritage. The evaluation of the perspectives of other poets and writers on the subject of earthquakes in this study will contribute to the existing literature on this topic.

Arif Nihat Asya’nın Şiirlerinde Deprem

Abstract

Edebiyat, insan ve toplumla ilgili her türlü konuyu ele alan disiplinlerarası bir bilimdir. İnsanların ve toplumların yaşadığı acılar, mutluluklar şair ve yazarlar tarafından dile getirilerek yaşananların gelecek nesillere aktarılmasını sağlar. Doğa olayları içerisinde önemli bir yer tutan deprem de edebiyatımızda kendisine önemli bir yer tutar. Şair ve yazarlar, depreme farklı açılardan bakarak yaşananları şair veya yazar hissiyatı ile dile getirirler. Bu çalışmada millî ve manevî duyguları ön planda tutan Arif Nihat Asya’nın yaşadığı dönemde gördüğü, yaşadığı depremler karşısındaki tutumu ve hissiyatı incelenecektir. Arif Nihat Asya, depreme Allah’ın bir ikazı, sapıtan toplumlar içinde İlahi bir azap ve gazap olarak bakar. Genellikle bu açıdan şiirlerinde depremi işleyen şair, deprem sonucunda yıkılan beldeleri, ölen insanları kader penceresinden değerlendirir. Ancak bu bakış açısına rağmen kendisini İslamiyet’e hizmet etmiş bir milletin başına gelmesi ve bu kadar ölümlerin olması karşısında sorgulamaktan da kendini alamaz. İnsanların ölümü İlahî bir kader olarak görülse de depremin tarihî ve kültürel mirası yok etmesi karşısında da üzüntüsünü dile getirir. Çalışmanın deprem konusunda başka şair ve yazarların bakış açılarının değerlendirilmesi çalışmalarına katkı sunacaktır.
