Abstract

Bu çalışmada, kadınların karate-do sporu yapan kadınların karate- do kavramına ilişkin sahip oldukları algıları metaforlar yardımıyla belirlemektir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubuna toplam 100 kişi gönüllü olarak katılmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplamak amacıyla katılımcılara karate- do kavramına ilişkin sahip oldukları algılarını belirlemek için “metafor formu” hazırlanmıştır. Metafor formunda katılımcılardan “Karate-do…gibidir; çünkü…”cümlesini tamamlamaları istenmiştir. Araştırmada, nitel araştırma yaklaşımlarından olgubilim deseni kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde ise; verilerin analizi ve yorumlanması sürecindeki aşamalar sırasıyla; metaforların belirlenmesi, metaforların sınıflandırılması, kategori geliştirme, geçerlik ve güvenirliği sağlama ve verilerin analizdir içerik analizi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesiyle, karate-do sporuna katılan kadınların toplam 85 metafor ürettikleri görülmüştür.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the perceptions of women regarding their experiences in karate-do and the metaphorical meanings associated with the concept of 'karate-do'. The study is based on a phenomenological design, a qualitative research approach, and involves a sample group of 85 participants. A “metaphor form” was prepared in order to collect data. In the form, the participants were asked to complete the sentence “Karate-do is like… because…” The data was analyzed using the content analysis method. In this process, metaphors were determined, classified, categories were developed, validity and reliability were ensured, and data were analyzed. When the answers given were examined, it was seen that the participants produced 85 metaphors. These produced metaphors were collected in 7 different categories. While it was determined that the participants developed metaphors most in the “supportive” and “basic needs” categories related to the concept of karate-do, these categories were followed by “nature”, “emotion”, “requiring effort”, “guiding/guiding” and “learning by having fun” categories. It was seen that the metaphors produced most by the participants were listed as therapy, life, water, breath. As a result of the research; It can be said that karate-do is perceived positively by female participants in many aspects. In this context, it is recommended that activities that will make karate-do sport popular, especially among female participants, be popularized.
