An Ischemic Stroke Related to Eltrombopag Use in a Patient with Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura

Abstract

Thrombopoetin receptor agonists like eltrombopag, used for Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura treatment rarely cause to the ischemic cerebrovascular disease. In this report, a patient, have been followed by ITP diagnosis for 5 years, admitted to the emergency service for right hemiparesis and aphasia. It was diagnosed as ischemic cerebrovascular disease. Etiology of patient’s cerebrovascular event was associated with eltrombopag. Because of this rare seen situation, it was argued by in the light of the literature.
Key words: Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, thrombopoietin receptor agonist, eltrombopag, ischemic stroke
