Evaluation of oxidative status in children and adolescent patients with primary enuresis nocturna

Abstract

Objective: In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the oxidative status in children and adolescents with primer enurezis nocturna. Methods: 30 patients diagnosed with primer enurezis nocturna and 25 healthy children as control group were included in the study. Serum total oxidant status (TOS) and total antioxidant status (TAS) and oxidative stress index (OSI) were measured by the Erel method, and compared with control group. This parameters also compared in primer enuresis nocturna patients before and after supportive and desmopressin treatment. Results: TAS TOS and OSI levels of patients compared with control group. TOS and OSI levels of patients found statistically higher than controls (p0.05). We cant find any difference for TAS TOS and OSI parameters in primer enuresis nocturna patients before and after supportive and desmopressin treatment (p>0.05). Conclusion: There is not any difference for TAS TOS and OSI parameters in primer enuresis nocturna patients before and after supportive and desmopressin treatment

Primer enürezis nokturnalı çocuk ve ergen hastalarda oksidatif durumun değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Amaç: Enürezis nokturna çocukluk çağında sık görülen rahatsızlıklardandır. Psiko-sosyal açıdan uygunsuz koşullara yoğun bir biçimde maruz kalan çocuklarda daha fazla görüldüğü bildirilmektedir. Bu çalışmada primer enürezis noktürnası olan çocuk ve ergenlerde oksidatif durumunun değerlendirilmesi amaçlandı. Yöntemler: Primer enürezis noktürna tanısı alan 30 hasta ile 25 sağlıklı çocuk çalışmaya alındı. Primer enürezis noktürna tanısı alan hasta grubundan çalışma başlangıcında ve bir aylık destekleyici tedavi ile birlikte desmopresin tedavisi sonrasında alınan kanlar kontrol grubu ile serum Total Antioksidan Seviye (TAS), Total Oksidan Seviye (TOS) ve Oksidatif Stres İndeksi(OSİ) değerlerini karşılaştırmak için Erel yöntemi ile çalışıldı. Bulgular: Çalışmaya alınan primer enürezis noktürnalı hastaların ortalama TAS, TOS ve OSİ değerleri sağlıklı kontrol grubu ile karşılaştırıldı. Hastaların TOS ve OSİ değerleri istatistiksel olarak anlamlı yüksek bulunurken (p < 0.001), TAS için iki grup ortalamaları arasında fark bulunmadı (p > 0.05). Primer enürezis noktürnalı hastaların bir aylık izlem ve tedavi sonrası TAS, TOS ve OSİ değerleri karşılaştırıldığında tedavi öncesi ile tedavi sonrası arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık bulunmadı (p > 0.05). Sonuç: Enürezis nokturna ile oksidatif metabolizma arasında ilişki olabileceği düşünüldü.Primer enürezis noktürnalı hastaların destekleyici tedavi ve desmopresin sonrası serum oksidan ve antioksdanlarda anlamlı bir değişiklik bulunmadı.
