Pregnancy and facial diplegia: A rare case

Abstract

Facial paralysis is seen more commonly in the women during pregnancy compared to their peers. Facial diplegia is a more common condition than facial paralysis. In etiology, many reasons such as Moebius syndrome, Guillain-Barre syndrome, sarcoidosis, infectious mononucleosis, bilateral temporal bone fractures, Lyme disease and multiple sclerosis might be responsible. While facial paralysises are generally observed as idiopathically, a small part of facial diplegias is idiopathic. Diagnosis of idiopathic facial diplegia is possible only after an extensive investigation. In this case, clinical follow-up and treatment of pregnant women diagnosed as idiopathic facial diplegia was evaluated.

Gebelik ve fasiyal dipleji: Nadir bir olgu

Abstract

Fasiyal paralizi; kadınlarda gebelik döneminde akranlarına oranla daha sık görülür. Fasiyal dipleji ise fasiyal paraliziye göre çok daha nadir olan bir durumdur. Etiyolojide Möbius sendromu, Guillain-Barre sendromu, sarkoidoz, infeksiyöz mononükleoz, bilateral temporal kemik fraktürleri, Lyme hastalığı ve multiple skleroz gibi birçok neden sorumlu olabilir. Fasiyal paraliziler genellikle idyopatik olarak gözlenirken fasiyal diplejilerin küçük bir kısmı idyopatiktir. İdyopatik fasial dipleji tanısı ancak kapsamlı bir araştırmadan sonra mümkün olabilir. Bu olgu da idiopatik fasial dipleji tanısı konulan gebe hastanın klinik takibi ve tedavisi değerlendirilmiştir.
