Konjenital kolesteatomlu kronik otitis mediaya bağlı gelişen bilateral mastoidit [Development of bilateral mastoiditis due to chronic otitis media with congenital cholesteatoma]

Abstract

Congenital cholesteatoma develops from the squamous epithelium that is located at middle ear, petrous bone and mastoid bone during embryological development of middle ear. Congenital cholesteatoma forms the 2-5% of all cholesteatomas. In this article, a 5 years old boy with bilateral -probably congenital- diffuse cholesteatoma and mastoid fistulas is presented. Our case is special due to his age and severe destructive pattern. Patient was treated successfully by bilateral radical mastoidectomy operation.

Abstract

Konjenital kolesteatom, embryolojik olarak orta kulağın gelişimi sırasında orta kulak, petröz kemik ve mastoid kemikte yer alan yassı epitelden gelişir. Tüm kolesteatomların yaklaşık %2-5\'ini meydana getirmektedir. Bu makalede, 5 yaşında bilateral muhtemel konjenital kökenli yaygın kolesteatom ve mastoid fistülle gelen bir olgu sunulmuştur. Olgumuz yaşına göre çok ileri seviyede destrüksiyonla seyretmesi sebebiyle özellik arz etmektedir. Hastaya bilateral radikal mastoidektomi operasyonu yapılarak başarıyla tedavi edilmiştir.
