Giant spermatocele: Case report

Abstract

Spermatocele is a rare disease that leads to discomfort such as scrotal mass, pain, and loss of aesthetics. Generally it causes unilateral and rarely clinical complaint. At diagnosis they could mimic other intrascrotal masses, so, physical examination and scrotal ultrasound is very important. The treatment depends on the size of the cyst, severity of symptoms and the surgeon's preference. 58-year-old male patient complaint with left scrotal swelling and intermittent scrotal pain for about 5 years was admitted to our clinic. A hard mass was detected in the left scrotum about 10-15 cm in size with palpation. With the scrotal color Doppler ultrasonography, fluid-filled cystic mass was detected, approximately 12x8 cm in size, in the left scrotum. The left scrotal exploration was done and approximately 12x6 cm size spermatocele was extracted.

Abstract

Spermatosel; skrotal kitle, ağrı ve estetik kaybı gibi rahatsızlıklara yol açan nadir görülen bir hastalıktır. Genellikle tek taraflı ve nadiren klinik olarak şikayet verirler. Tanıda diğer intraskrotal kitlelerle karışabildiğinden dolayı fizik muayene ve skrotal ultrasonografi çok önemlidir. Tedavi, kistin büyüklüğüne, semptomların ciddiyetine ve cerrahın tercihine bağlıdır. 58 yaşında erkek hasta yaklaşık 5 yıldır var olan sol skrotal şişlik, ara ara olan skrotal ağrı şikayetleriyle kliniğimize başvurdu. Palpasyonda sol skrotumda yaklaşık 10-15 cm boyutlarında sert kitle tespit edildi. Yapılan skrotal renkli Doppler ultrasonografide sol skrotumda içi sıvı dolu yaklaşık 12x8 cm boyutlarında kistik kitle tespit edildi. Sol skrotal eksplorasyon yapıldı ve sol skrotumdan yaklaşık 12x6 cm boyutlarında spermatosel çıkarıldı.
