A successful method for severe gestational thrombocytopenia: A rare case study

Abstract

In a normally progressing pregnancy, especially in the third trimester thrombocyte numbers reduce by about 10%. The reason for this reduction is thought to be the hemodilution and increased consumption in pregnancy. Generally, it is recognized by chance during routine blood count and it is the second most common hematologic anomaly during pregnancy. Once thrombocytopenia is diagnosed in pregnancy, research must be done to determine whether it is a life-threatening risk factor in terms of the mother-fetus-infant. The majority of thrombocytopenia seen in pregnancy is gestational thrombocytopenia. This paper examines an active labor, normal birthing case with a thrombocyte count of 7916/mm3.

Abstract

Normal gebeliğin seyri esnasında özellikle üçüncü trimesterde trombosit sayısı yaklaşık %10 civarında azalır. Azalmanın nedeni; gebelikte oluşan hemodilüsyon ve tüketimin artması olarak düşünülür. Genelde rutin kan sayımı sırasında tesadüfen saptanır ve gebelikte rastlanılan en yaygın ikinci hematolojik anormalliktir. Bir gebede trombositopeni saptandığında anne ve bebek açısından hayatı tehdit edici bir risk faktörünün olup olmadığının araştırılması gerekmektedir. Gebelikte görülen trombositopenilerin çoğunluğunu gestasyonel trombositopeniler oluşturmaktadır. Bu yazıda aktif travayda, trombosit sayısı 7916/mm³ olan ve normal doğurtulan olgu incelenmiştir.
