The Transformative Effects Of Hajj On Women

Abstract

Pilgrimage is a kind of worship that can be found in almost all major religions. When we consider Islam, Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. It can be said that the Hajj includes whole characteristics of all other worships. Due to this unique feature, it is expected that the Hajj should bring some important changes to life of Hajis especially in way of life and behaviors after the completion of this holy duty. This paper aims to understand the commutative effects of Hajj on women. 33 women haji who fulfilled all obligations of the Hajj and visited all of sacred places were interviewed during their stay in holy places. They were asked about their preparation phase for this duty, their feelings, the most effective situations and their expectations regarding the effects of the Hajj after returning back to home

Haccın Kadınları Dönüştürücü Etkileri**

Abstract

Hac, hemen bütün dinlerde bulunan bir ibadet çeşididir. İslam’da ise şartlarını taşıyanlar için zorunlu bir ibadettir, genelde ifade edildiği gibi İslam’ın beş şartından birisidir Hac ibadeti diğer bütün ibadetlerin özelliklerini özünde barındırır. Bunun da hac ibadetini yapan kişilerde birtakım değişimler meydana getirmesi beklenir. Bu çalışmada hac ibadetini yerine getiren, Mekke ve Medine’de kutsal yerleri ziyaret eden 33 kadınla hac ibadetinin dö- nüştürücü etkilerini konu edinen görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Bu mülakatla kadınların hacca gelmeden önce hac için ne tür hazırlık yaptıkları, hacda nelerden nasıl etkilendikleri, hacda yaşadıkları tecrübenin sonraki hayatlarında bir değişime yol açıp açmayacağı konusundaki düşünceleri ve açacağı düşünülüyorsa bu değişimin hangi alanlarda olduğu belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır.
