The Environment in which Imam Al-Shafii Wrote his al-Resalah and its Impact and Reflections on it

Abstract

The role and place of Imam al-Shafii in Islamic thought has been criticised by some scholars for a long time. In this study, we tried to focus on his way of thought which based on the context of the period in which he lived (d.204/811), and the impacts of this environment on his famous book “al-Resalah”. As a result, it would be said that al-Shafii set rules to prevent a scientific chaos in his time and defended Sunnah vigorously as a sound evidence in extracting “ahkaam/adjudications”, as well as a means to provide unity of thinking. In other words, al-Shafii formed his methodology on the foundations of the matters which were mentioned above

İmam Şâfiî’nin er-Risâle’sini Yazdığı Ortam ve er-Risâle’ye Etki ve Yansımaları

Abstract

İmam Şâfiî’nin İslam düşüncesindeki yeri öteden beri bir takım çevrelerde tartışma konusu olmuştur. Bu çalışmada onun yaşadığı ortam ve dönemden hareketle düşünce dünyası belirginleştirilmeye ve meşhur eseri er-Risâleye yansıması ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Sonuç itibariyle Şâfiî’nin bir takım bilimsel kaygılarla yola çıktığı, dönemindeki bilimsel kaosu engelleme, fikrî birliği ve nasların otoritesini sağlama düşüncesiyle hareket edip yöntemini teorik olarak mezkûr esaslar üzerinde temellendirmeye çalıştığı söylenebilir
