One of the issues discussed by the schools of kalam is the state of the punishment of those who have major sins in the hereafter, even though they are Muslim. This subject has been studied under the name of the major sin (murtakib alkabira) issue. Human nature does not always stay within the boundaries drawn for itself. In this context, what will happen to a Muslim in the world and the hereafter if he commits one or more of the religious prohibitions is one of the important theological problems. Abu al-Mu’in al-Nasafi is one of the scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah who lived in Central Asia in the 4th century of the Hijri. In his work titled Tabsirat al-Adilla fi Usul al-Din, he primarily examines the major sin issue through the definitions of the concepts of believer (mumin), unbeliever (kafir) and rebellious (fasiq). According to Nasafi, believing is confirming the truth or wrongness of something by heart. Major or minor sins committed unintentionally by a believer can be forgiven or punished by Allah (swt). However, if one underestimates major sins or regards it as lawful, he/ she cannot benefit from this advantage and is treated like deniers.
