In order to benefit from the guidance of the Qur’an, it is necessary to understand the Qur’an and to understand the Qur’an, it is necessary to know the language of the Qur’an and its methods of understanding. Depending on the knowledge and understanding abilities of the people, it revealed differences in the meaning of the ambiguous verses and multivalent words, and this difference showed itself in the transfer of the Qur’an language to other languages. One of the verses of the Qur’an that are understood differently and different conclusions are drawn is the third verse of the Sûrah al-Nûr. The reason why the verse is understood differ-ently is that the word "nikah" (marriage) in the verse is multivalent. The word “nikah” means "to marry" and to engage in "sexual intercourse" Therefore; some mufassirs (interpreters of the Qur’an) prefer the meaning “getting married” while others construe it as “engaging in sexual intercourse. According to some, the verse 32 of Surah al-Nur supersedes the judgement the third verse contains, while others are of the opinion that the third verse does not contain any judgement and that it only prevents believers from adultery. There is no evidence that sup-ports the claims of such abrogation. The verse not only deters believers from adultery but also states that it is forbidden.
