Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine physical education and sports teachers' perceived physical literacy levels and their teacher self-efficacy regarding the education of individuals with special needs in terms of various demographic variables, and to reveal the relationship between these two variables. The study employed the correlational survey model, a quantitative research method. The sample consisted of 217 physical education and sports teachers working in middle and high schools across different provinces of Türkiye. Data were collected using the "Personal Information Form," the "Perceived Physical Literacy Scale for Physical Education Teachers," and the "Teacher Self-Efficacy Scale for the Education of Individuals with Special Needs." In this context, the independent samples t-test was used for pairwise comparisons, the Pearson correlation test was used to analyze relationships, and Cronbach’s alpha internal consistency coefficient was calculated for reliability analyses. The results indicated a positive and significant relationship between the teachers' age and years of professional experience; however, no significant differences were found regarding gender, school type, educational status, or having a relative with special needs. Furthermore, a positive, moderate, and significant relationship was determined between the physical education and sports teachers' perceived physical literacy levels and their self-efficacy regarding the education of individuals with special needs.
