Abstract

The concept of culture itself is a value concept. Emprical reality becomes culture to us because and in so far as,we relate it to values. The validity of values is a matter of faith,not of knowledge,according to Weber; therefore the social sciences must investigate values but cannot provide binding norms and ideals from which directives controlling practical activity can be derived. Social science must be an emprical science of concrete reality

Abstract

Kültür,bir değer kavramıdır. Kültürün kendisinin içeriğini de oluşturan değerler ile olan bu bağlantısı, kültürü, empirik bir gerçeklik haline getirmektedir. Max Weber'e göre,değerlerin geçerliliği bir inanç konusu olduğundan, toplumsal bilimler mutlaka araştırma değerlerini içermeli; ancak, somut faaliyeti denetimi altına alan buyruklardan kaynaklanan bağlayıcı normlar ve idealleri şart koşmamalıdır. Sosyal bilim somut gerçeği empirik olarak irdeleyen bir bilim olmalıdır
