This paper presents the sociological evaluation of poverty in the South-east Anatolia. GAP is a globally recognised multi-sectoral, integrated project in Turkey, which aims at the overall socio-economic development of South-east Anatolia. Especially this paper focuses to make this regional poverty visible by using data of GAP project studies and regional statistics. There is not enough poverty studies which were done in Turkey. For this reason, our investigation is mostly based on regional statistics rather thanfield and case studies. in this paper several social indicators have been connected with poverty in the region.
