Development and Bench-Scale Functional Validation of a Low-Cost IoT Prototype for Classroom Environmental Quality Monitoring

Abstract

This study reports bench-scale functional validation of a low-cost IoT proof-of-concept for classroom environmental monitoring. A Raspberry Pi integrates DHT-22 temperature–humidity sensing, an MQ-135 used only as a non-specific gas/air-quality proxy, an LDR relative light sensor, Python/Tkinter software, and prototype actuators. Bench tests confirmed sensor acquisition and rule-based actuator triggering. No classroom field data, NDIR comparison, calibrated lux measurements, energy savings, or occupant outcomes are reported. The contribution is limited to functional system integration.
