Abstract

The author, in the preface of the book, emphasizes that the formation process of the state has generally been examined within the disciplines of political science, eco-politics, or anthropology in academic literature, while it has not been sufficiently analyzed from a sociological perspective. Apart from Marxist thinkers, sociological evaluations of the state's formation process have been quite limited, and even Marxist approaches, according to the author, exhibit certain deficiencies in this regard. To address this gap and contribute to the field, the author examines the formation of the state through a sociological lens, conducting a historical analysis within the framework of legal and constitutional texts. The author asserts that this study will encourage many sociologists to conduct research in this area and make a positive contribution to the literature. The book consists of six main chapters: Introduction: The Problem of Governance, Feudal Forms of Government, Standstaat, Absolute Rule, The 19th Century Rule of Law, and The State After Liberalism, each further divided into subheadings. In the first chapter, the issue of governance is analyzed comparatively through discussions on politics, distribution, and various perspectives. In the subsequent chapters, a historical perspective is adopted, tracing the transition from feudalism to the formation of the modern state step by step.

Modern Devletin Gelişimi - Sosyolojik Bir Yaklaşım

Abstract

Yazar, kitabın önsözünde devletin oluşum sürecinin akademik yazında genellikle siyaset bilimi, eko-politik ya da antropolojik disiplinler çerçevesinde değerlendirildiğini, ancak sosyolojik açıdan yeterince ele alınmadığını vurgulamaktadır. Marksist düşünürler haricinde, devletin oluşum sürecine dair sosyolojik değerlendirmelerin oldukça sınırlı olduğunu, Marksist yaklaşımların ise bu konuda belli açılardan eksiklik taşıdığını ifade etmektedir. Bu eksikliği gidermek ve konuya katkı sunmak amacıyla yazar, devletin oluşumunu sosyolojik bir bakış açısıyla ele almış; bu süreçte hukuk ve anayasal metinler bağlamında tarihsel bir inceleme gerçekleştirmiştir. Yazar, bu çalışmanın birçok sosyoloğu bu alanda araştırma yapmaya teşvik edeceğini ve literatüre olumlu katkılar sağlayacağını belirtmiştir. Kitap, altı ana bölümden (Giriş: Yönetim Sorunu, Feodal Yönetim Biçimi, Standstaat, Mutlak Yönetim Sistemi, 19. Yüzyıl Hukuk Devleti, Liberalizm ve Sonrasında Devlet) ve bu bölümlere ait alt başlıklardan oluşmaktadır. İlk bölümde, yönetim sorunu siyaset, dağıtım ve bazı görüşler üzerinden mukayeseli bir şekilde ele alınmış; sonraki bölümlerde ise tarihsel bir perspektif benimsenerek feodalizmden modern devletin oluşumuna kadar olan süreç adım adım incelenmiştir.
