Abstract

Bu çalışma, deneysel ve ticari üretim koşullarında yetiştirilen yavaş gelişen etlik piliçlerde davranışsal hayvan refahı parametreleri üzerine yaşın etkisini incelemek amacı ile yapılmıştır. Ticari koşullarda yetiştirilen 2000 adet yavaş gelişen etlik piliç ile deneysel koşullarda yetiştirilen 30 adet yavaş gelişen etlik piliç içinden seçilen odak hayvanlarda 7 ve 9 haftalık yaşlarda doğrudan gözlem yolu ile hayvan
davranışları izlenmiştir. Deneysel ve ticari koşullarda metrekare alanda en fazla 25 kg canlı ağırlık olacak şekilde (10 adet hayvan/m2) barındırma yoğunluğu sağlanmış, deneysel barındırma koşulları 1x1 m, ticari barındırma koşulları 6x30 m ölçülerinde düzenlenmiştir. Her iki grupta da en fazla gözlemlenen davranış oturma/yatma davranışı bulunmuş, oturma/yatma davranışının süresi yaşla birlikte artmıştır. Ticari koşullarda büyütülen hayvanlarda yürüme davranışının toplam içindeki payı deneysel koşullarda büyütülenlere göre daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Hayvan davranışları üzerine barınak, ekipman, bakım ve yetiştirme yöntemlerinin etkisinin inceleneceği çalışmaların ticari koşullardaki gibi daha büyük gruplar üzerinde planlanmasının faydalı olacağı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Effects of Age on Behavioral-based Welfare Indicators of Slow Growing Broiler Raised in Experimental and Commercial Conditions

Year 2023, Volume: 16 Issue: 1, 43 - 47, 30.06.2023

Abstract

This study was carried out to investigate the effects of age on behavioral-based animal welfare parameters in slow growing broiler rearedunder experimental and commercial production conditions. The state and event behaviors of 2000 slow growing broiler reared undercommercial conditions and 30 slow growing broiler chickens reared under experimental conditions were measured with direct observations by randomly selected focal animals at 7 and 9 weeks of age. In experimental and commercial conditions, a maximum of 25kg live weight (10 animals/m2) stocking density was provided in one square meter area. The experimental and commercial housing conditions were arranged as 1x1 m, and 6x30 m in size, respectively. The length of sitting/lying behavior increased with age in both groups,
and proportion of walking behavior in animals reared under commercial conditions was found to be higher than those reared under experimental conditions. It has been concluded that it would be beneficial to plan studies on the effects of house arrangements, equipment, care and management on animal behavior, on larger groups as in commercial conditions.
