A Research on the Sustainable Production Practices at Forestry Industry in Western Black Sea

Main aims of the study are to identify the current situations of forestry industry enterprises in terms of cleaner (sustainable) production, and the activities carried out for cleaner production in the enterprises in Western Black Sea Region. Research population is chosen as the 174 industrial middle and large scale enterprises operating with production activities in the Western Black Sea Region. 50 enterprises provided feedback to the research. A survey form was developed by taking literature activities into account and the survey forms prepared were distributed to the forestry industry enterprises in Western Black Sea Region (Düzce, Zonguldak, Bolu, Bartın, Karabük, Kastamonu provinces); and it was conducted with middle and high level managers using face to face survey technique. Data obtained from the enterprises as a result of the study reveal that areas that require intensive use of sources and cause waste are finance, labour force and time constraints. Objectives that are desired to be achieved as a result of efforts of cleaner production are categorized into three groups as “Economic”, “Social” and “Environmental” objectives. Low cost and cleaner production suggestions are formed to ensure source savings and decrease waste production under the light shed by this information.

Batı Karadeniz Bölgesinde yer alan orman ürünleri sanayi işletmelerinin temiz (sürdürülebilir) üretim konusunda mevcut durumlarının belirlenmesi ve temiz üretim açısından işletmelerce yapılan çalışmalar araştırmanın temel amaçlarını oluşturacaktır. Bu amaçla, Batı Karadeniz Bölgesinde üretim faaliyeti gösteren orta ve büyük ölçekli 174 sanayi işletmesi araştırmanın evreni olarak seçilmiştir. Araştırmada 50 işletmeden geri dönüş sağlanmıştır. Literatürde yapılan çalışmalar dikkate alınarak bir anket formu geliştirilmiş ve hazırlanan anket formları Batı Karadeniz Bölgesinde (Düzce, Zonguldak, Bolu, Bartın, Karabük, Kastamonu) faaliyette olan orman ürünleri sanayi işletmelerine ulaştırılarak, orta ve üst düzey yöneticilere yüz yüze anket tekniği ile uygulanmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda, işletmelerden elde edilen veriler doğrultusunda, orman ürünleri sanayinde üretim yapan işletmelerde, yoğun kaynak kullanımı ve atık oluşumuna neden olan alanları finansman, işgücü ve zaman yetersizliği olarak sıralamışlardır. Çalışma sonucunda temiz üretim konusunda işletmelerin ulaşmak istedikleri amaçlar “Ekonomik”, “Sosyal” ve “Çevresel” amaçlar olarak 3 grupta irdelenmiştir. Bu bilgiler ışığında hem kaynak tasarrufu sağlayacak hem de atık oluşumunu azaltacak düşük maliyetli ve temiz üretim önerileri geliştirilmiştir.
