In this study, some of the physical properties of the Q. robur L. wood, which is one of the most important tree species in the forestry of Turkey, and primary soil elements that have an effect during the formation of these properties, were investigated. For this purpose, test trees that were supplied from Dörtyol (Hatay) region were used. As a result of the tests, it was found that the annual ring width of Quercus robur L. wood was 2.1 mm, air dry density was 0.776 g/cm3, complete dry density was 0.721 g/cm3, volume-density value was 0.612 g/cm3, radial direction shrinking was 4.9%, tangential direction shrinking was 6.5%, volumetric shrinking was 11.4%, tangential direction swelling was 9.5%, radial direction swelling was 5.2% and volumetric swelling was found as 14.7%. According to obtained data, it was understood that it is rather suitable to grow Quercus robur L. wood in the soil characteristics of the habitat.
