Sustainable forest management, in a broad sense, is a concept by which community defines the values of
forest resources to be maintained. Criteria and indicators are used for concretizing the sustainability. They are
tools for assessing and reporting the status and progress towards sustainability. This study defines national level
criteria for monitoring sustainable forest management. The study employs Delphi method. This study created a
Delphi panel including three expert groups: Forestry Institutions, Academicians and NGOs. Study produced nine
criteria for assessing sustainability in forest resource management in Turkey.
