In this study, sociodemographic and biochemical data, medical treatment modalities and complication rates of diabetes patients who admitted the diabetes polyclinic and had regular follow up visits. A total of 375 patients with diagnosis of type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes included in the study by analyzing retrospectively medical records of patients admitted to diabetes polyclinic. Patients were analyzed as first visit and 12th month according to the admission time to diabetes polyclinic. Mean age of patients was 53 (18-93) years and the most common gender was female (55.7%). The mean HbA1c levels were 9.1% in the first admission group, and 8% in 12th month. The most common microvascular complication was diabetic neuropathy (14.9%), the least complication was nephropathy (2.1%), among all diabetes types. The most common disease concomitant to diabetes was hypertension (50.7%). It was observed that the most common medical treatment option was metformin and sulfonylurea combination (34.9%) in the first admission group patients while patients were use metformin and insulin comination in the 12th month group (37.6%). Physician, diabetes nurse and dietician should work as a team, in management of diabetes treatment requiring multisystem approach. The case that the control parameters of the patients coming to the control are better than the parameters of the admission time, shows the importance of follow up controls.
