Obesity is a chronic disease arising as a result of steatopygia that could derange health due to malnutrition, sedentary lifestyle, hormonal disorders, genetic factors, and psycho-social factors. Furthermore, obesity is a preventable public health problem causing psychological, social and economic problems by leading up to chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, acute respiratory tract illnesses, diabetes; shortening the life period by reducing the life quality; and seen at increasing rates of every age group in developed and developing countries. In this study, nutritional habits such as the risk of impairment of healthy nutritional habits, increase in convenience food consumption, decrease in physical activity and obesity prevalence were evaluated. 287 students in total, 167 female (58.2%), 120 male 41.8%), were included in the current study who were voluntary and were selected randomly, and who were studying at Bartin University Vocational School of Health Services in 2014-2015 academic year. Anthropometric body measurements of the participants in the study were made, and questionnaire was conducted in order to investigate their nutritional habits, physical activity status and healthy lifestyle behaviors. Chi-square test was conducted in the analysis of the data obtained in the research. It was found out that 65% of male participants and 73.1% of female participants were normal weight; 21.7% of male participants and 16.8% of female participants were overweight; 5.8% of male participants and 4.2% of female participants were obese. When all the data were examined, it was determined that 69.7% of the participants were normal weight, 18.8% of the participants were overweight, 6.6% of the participants were underweight, and 4.9% of them were obese. As a result, students' sedentary lifestyles, nutritional habits, consume meals and snack, skipping meals situations should be reviewed and walking as much as possible instead of using public transportation vehicles should be encouraged to increase physical activity. Various sources such as public service ads, books, journals, and educational materials about healthy lifestyle, adequate and balanced nutrition, physical activity, obesity and treatment methods should be prepared and conveyed to public in order to inform every rung in the society.
