Rhabdomyolysis in a Patient with Hypocalcemia related to Hypoparathyroidism

Abstract

Rhabdomyolysis is a syndrome characterized by muscle necrosis and the release of intracellular muscle constituents into the circulation. A 75-year-old woman admitted to emergency departments with weakness, paraphrasia, mental fog, muscle weakness, Positive Chvostek sign and Trousseau sign in her physical examination Laboratory examination revealed the following results: creatinine: 1.6 mg/dL, uric acid: 8.4mg/dL, potassium: 4.9 mEq/L, calcium: 4.2 mg/dL, phosphorus: 6.9 mg/dL, parathormon: 3.1 IU/L, creatinine kinase: 2596 IU/L, aspartate aminotransferase: 54 IU/L, alanin aminotransferase: 35 IU/L. In this article, we aimed to present a rare case of rhabdomyolysis associated with hypocalcemia due to hypoparathyroidism.

Hipoparatiroidiye Bağlı Gelişen Hipokalsemi İle İlişkili Bir Rabdomiyoliz Olgusu

Abstract

Rabdomiyoliz, çizgili iskelet kasının nekrozu ile dolaşıma kas içi bileşenlerin geçtiği bir sendromdur. 75 yaşında kadın hasta acil servisimize halsizlik, konuşma bozukluğu, bilinç bulanıklığı ve kas güçsüzlüğü şikâyetleri ile başvurdu. Chvostek ve Trousseau bulguları pozitifti. Tetkiklerinde; kreatinin:1,6mg/dL, ürik asit, potasyum: 4,9 mEq/L, kalsiyum: 4,2 mg/dL, fosfor: 6,9 mg/dL, parathormon: 3,1 IU/L, kreatinin kinaz: 2596 IU/L aspartat aminotransferaz: 54 IU/L, alanin aminotransferaz: 35 IU/L, olduğu görüldü. Bu yazıda, hipoparatiroidiye bağlı gelişen hipokalsemi ile ilişkili rabdomiyoliz olgusu sunumu amaçlanmıştır.
