The Relationship Between Workforce Agility, Alienation, And Psychological Empowerment in The Digital Context
Abstract
This study examines the impact of workforce agility on employee alienation in the banking sector, which is highly influenced by digital technologies. It also explores whether psychological empowerment moderates this relationship. The study surveys 317 bank employees in Turkey. Correlation and regression analyses were conducted to examine the relationship between workforce agility, alienation, and psychological empowerment. The results indicate a negative relationship between workforce agility and alienation. Furthermore, psychological empowerment is found to have a positive relationship with workforce agility and a negative relationship with alienation. Psychological empowerment did not show a significant moderating effect. However, the meaning dimension of psychological empowerment strengthened the relationship between agility and alienation. This study contributes to the literature by linking workforce agility to reduced alienation in the digitalized banking sector. It also highlights the importance of the meaning dimension of psychological empowerment in enhancing this relationship. The findings suggest that enhancing agility and meaning at work can reduce alienation and improve employee wellbeing.
