ANALYSIS OF THE CASUAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN R&D EXPENDITURES AND ECONOMIC GROWTH FOR TURKEY

Abstract

R&D expenditures – growth relation had been broadly mentioned in endogenous growth model; however, existence and direction of this relationship has begun to be discussed in recent studies. In this study R&D expenditures – growth relation has been analyzed on the context of causality and VEC (Vector Error Correction) model has been choosen as methodology. As a result of this study, in the short-run there is no relationship between R&D expenditures and economic growth found any other direction; however, in the long-run result that R&D expenditures causes economic growth has been reached

TÜRKİYE’DE AR-GE HARCAMALARI VE EKONOMİK BÜYÜME ARASINDAKİ NEDENSEL İLİŞKİNİN ANALİZİ

Abstract

AR-GE harcamaları - büyüme ilişkisine içsel büyüme modellerinde geniş bir şekilde değinilmiş fakat bu ilişkinin varlığı ve bu ilişkinin yönü son zamanlarda yapılan çalışmalarda tartışılmaya başlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada Türkiye için AR-GE harcamaları – büyüme ilişkisi nedensellik bağlamında analiz edilmiştir. Bunun için yöntem olarak VEC (Vector Error Correction) modeli seçilmiştir. Çalışma sonucu kısa dönemde AR-GE harcamaları – ekonomik büyüme ilişkisi herhangi bir yönde bulunamamış, ancak uzun dönemde AR-GE harcamalarının ekonomik büyümenin nedeni olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır
