The Evaluation of Different Laminate Veneers under Functional Forces by Finite Element Stress Analysis

Abstract

The aim of this finite elemental stress analysis study was to evaluate stress distribution in differently designed ceramic or composite laminate veneers under functional forces by using finite element stress analysis method. A two-dimensional labio-lingual cross sectional maxillary central incisor tooth model was created based on the natural length and relations with soft tissue for this study. Nine different designed mathematical models were created for this study. One of these models was used as a control. The facial contour of all veneers was identical and was defined by accentuating the contour of the natural tooth in this study. Function was described, as the biting position and this force was a vector of vertical and horizontal forces. 200 N total forces were applied from the incisal edge of the model. Using the SAP 90 structural analysis program performed the analysis. The findings were drawn by SAPLOT program. Results are evaluated in two groups. One of them is shear stress result. And the other is tensile and compressive stress result. Composite veneer group, which is included labial surface and incisal edge preparation, recorded the maximum tensile stress. Porcelain veneer group, which is included labial surface and incisal edge preparation, recorded maximum tensile stress value as composite veneer group. In this study it is determined that; because there was not so much stress density formed on porcelain material and at enamelrestoration border; laminate veneers can be used securely. Especially when all data is estimated; we come to the conclusion that the most appropriate type of the restoration according to stress distribution is application of laminate veneer to only labial face preparation with the tooth’s natural dimensions protected.

FONKSİYONEL KUVVETLER ALTINDAKİ FARKLI LAMİNATE VENEER KRONLARIN SONLU ELEMANLAR STRES ANALİZ YÖNTEMİ İLE DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı; sonlu elemanlar stresanaliz yöntemi ile farklı preparasyonlar uygulanarak hazırlanan seramik ve kompozit laminateveneer kronlar üzerinde fonksiyonel kuvvetlerinoluşturduğu gerilimlerin nasıl dağılım gösterdiklerinin tespit edilmesidir. Bu amaçla maksiller santral kesici dişin periodontal dokularla birlikte doğal boyut veilişkilerini gösteren labio-lingual yönde iki boyutlukesiti oluşturulmuştur. Bu kesit esas alınarak dahasonra bir tanesi restorasyon uygulanmamış üstsantral kesici diş olmak üzere dokuz farklı durumuifâde eden matematiksel modeller hazırlanmıştır.Fonksiyon, ısırma anını gösteren kuvvet ile temsiledilip, vertikal ve horizontal bileşenden oluşturulmuştur. Bu kuvvetlerin uygulama noktası herdurum için sabit olacak şekilde insizal bölgedeseçilmiş ve toplam 200 N kuvvet uygulanmıştır.Oluşan gerilimleri inceleyebilmek için SAP 90analiz proğramı, sonuçları değerlendirebilmek içinde SAPLOT çizim proğramı kullanılmıştır. Sonuçlar, makaslama ve çekme-sıkışma gerilimleri olmak üzere iki grup altında değerlendirilmiştir. Yapılan analizler sonucunda; kompozit laminate veneer grubu için en yüksek gerilim değerilabial yüz ve insizal kenarı içine alan preprasyonlarda çekme gerilimi olarak tespit edilmiştir.Porselen laminate veneer kronlar için en yüksekgerilim değeri ise; rakamsal olarak daha düşükolmakla beraber yine kompozit laminate veneergrubunda olduğu gibi labial yüz ve insizal kenarıiçine alan preparasyon tasarımında çekme gerilimiolarak tespit edilmiştir. Bu çalışma sonucundaporselen materyal üzerinde ve mine - restorasyonhudutunda çok fazla gerilim yoğunluğununoluşmaması laminate veneer kronları güvenli birşekilde kullanabileceğimizi ifâde etmektedir. Özellikle tüm veriler değerlendirildiğinde gerilimdağılımı açısından en uygun restorasyon tipinindişin doğal boyutu korunarak sadece labial yüzdepreparasyon yapılarak hazırlanan laminate veneeruygulaması olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır
