The Effect of Finishing and Polishing Procedure on Color Stability of a Bulk Fill Composite Resin

Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of finishing and polishing procedure on the color stability on a bulk fill composite resin. 50 specimens were prepared for Bulk fill resin composite X-tra Fill using a plexiglass mold 2 mm height and 8 mm diameter . All the specimens were polymerized by a LED curing unit Monitex İndustrial Co. on top side against a sellüloid strip Universal strips . Specimens were stored in distilled water at °C 37 for 24 hours. Baseline colors of specimens were measured with a shade device Vita Easyshade . They were randomly divided into two main groups n=25 . Group I:Any finishing and polishing did not applied Selluloid strip- as control Group II: Finishing and polishing procedures applied with abrasive discs Finishing Disc Then, specimens of Goup I and Goup II were divided to five sub groups n=5 and each group were stored in black tea, cola, coffe, sour cherry and distilled water for 7 days. Color measuments were repeated at the end of 1. day and 7. days. Mean values of groups were compared using two way Analysis of Variance and Tukey-Kramer test . The least color changes were found in distilled water, while the most color changes were found in coffee. However, the color differences at the end of day 1 were within the clinically acceptable range ΔE*< 3,7 . The color differences were increased at the end of day 7. BİTİRME VE CİLA İŞLEMİNİN BİR BULK FİLL KOMPOZİT REZİNİN RENK STABİLİTESİNE ETKİSİ

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı uygulanan bitirme ve cila işleminin bir bulk fill kompozit rezinin renk stabilitesine etkisinin değerlendirilmesidir. 2 mm kalınlığında ve 8 mm çapında pleksiglass kalıplar kullanılarak 50 adet Bulk fill kompozit rezin örneği X-tra Fill hazırlandı. Kompozit rezin kalıplara yerleştirildikten sonra üzerine sellüloid strip bant Universal strips uygulandı ve LED ışık cihazı Monitex İndustrial Co. ile 40 saniye üst yüzeylerinden polimerize edildiler. Hazırlanan tüm örnekler sıvılara atılmadan önce 37 °C’de 24 saat distile suda bekletildi. Örneklerin başlangıç renkleri ΔE renk ölçüm cihazı ile Vita Easyshade ölçüldü, daha sonra 50 örnek iki ana gruba n=25 ayrıldı. I.gruptaki örneklere herhangi bitirme ve cila işlemi uygulanmadı sellüloid strip karşısında tamamlanmış-kontrol grubu II. gruptaki örneklere ise abrasiv diskler Finishing Disk ile bitirme ve cila işlemi uygulandı. Her iki gruba ait örnekler 5’er alt guba ayrılarak n=5 , her gün değiştirilen siyah çay, kola, kahve, vişne suyu ve distile su içerisinde 1 hafta boyunca bekletildi. 1.gün ve 7.gün sonunda renkleri tekrar ölçüldü. Sonuçlar istatistiksel olarak iki yönlü Varyans analizi ve Tukey-Kramer çok yönlü karşılaştırma testleri ile değerlendirildi. En az renk değişiminin distile su, en fazla renk değişiminin ise kahve gruplarında olduğu gözlendi. Bununla birlikte 1. gün sonunda elde edilen renk değişimleri klinik olarak kabul edilebilir düzeydeydi ΔE*< 3,7 . 7. gün sonunda renk değişiminin arttığı, 1.gün ve 7. gün sonunda gözlenen renk değişimleri arasında istatistiksel olarak önemli fark olduğu bulundu. Kontrol grubu ile karşılaştırıldığında, kompozit rezine abrasiv diskler ile uygulanan bitirme ve cila işlemi boyanmayı önemli derecede azalttı
