Effect of Opaque Shade Composite Resin for Light Transmission

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to evaluate the degree of light transmittance %T of opaque and non-opaque shades of an universal hybrid Charisma [Heraeus-Kulzer, Germany] and three nanofill composites Filtek Supreme XT [3M ESPE, USA], Clearfil Majesty Esthetic [Kuraray Dental, Japan] and Grandio [Voco, Germany] . For this aim disc-shaped samples with 1 and 2 mm thickness were prepared using stainless steel mold. Incident and transmitted light intensities of specimens were measured using a radiometer Demetron P/N 10503, Kerr Co., USA . Then light transmittances of specimens were calculated. Results of the study showed that light transmittance of opaque shades were lower than that of nonopaque shades. 1 mm specimens transmitted more light than 2 mm specimens for all colors. Light transmission value of opaque shade Filtek Supreme XT was lower than that of the other composite specimens. The highest light transmission values were obtained with non-opaque shade of Filtek Supreme XT for both thicknesses

Opak renkli kompozit rezinin ışık geçirgenliğine etkisi

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, bir üniversal hibrid kompozit Charisma [Heraeus-Kulzer, Germany] ve üç nanofil kompozit rezinin Filtek Supreme XT [3M ESPE, USA, Clearfil Majesty Esthetic [Kuraray Dental, Japan ve Grandio [Voco, Germany opak ve opak olmayan renklerinin ışık geçirgenliklerini %T değerlendirmektir. Bu amaç için, disk şeklinde, 1 ve 2 mm kalınlığında örnekler, paslanmaz çelik kalıp kullanılarak hazırlandı. Hazırlanan kompozit disklere gelen ve kompozit örnekten geçen ışık şiddetleri Radiometer Demetron P/N 10503, Kerr Co., USA cihazı kullanılarak ölçüldü. Daha sonra örneklerin ışık geçirgenlik değerleri hesaplandı. Araştırma sonuçlarımız, opak renklerin ışık geçirgenlik değerlerinin, opak olmayan renklerden daha düşük olduğunu göstermiştir. Tüm renklerin 1 mm’lik örnekleri, 2 mm’lik örneklerinden daha fazla ışık geçirgenliğine sahiptir. Filtek Supreme XT materyalinin opak renginin ışık geçirgenliği, diğer kompozit örneklerinin ışık geçirgenliklerinden daha düşüktür. Her iki kalınlık için en yüksek ışık geçirgenlik değerleri, Filtek Supreme XT’nin opak olmayan rengi ile elde edilmiştir.
