HEMŞİRELİK ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN AFETE MÜDAHALE ÖZ-YETERLİLİK DURUMLARININ DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Year 2021, Volume: 1 Issue: 2, 45 - 49, 18.09.2021

Abstract

ASSESSMENT OF NURSING STUDENTS' SELF-EFFICIENCY IN DISASTER RESPONSE

Year 2021, Volume: 1 Issue: 2, 45 - 49, 18.09.2021

Abstract

Introduction: Disasters nurses play an important role in a variety of positions in the care of people who affected by disasters. Especially, it is an issue that is extremely important for nursing students in disaster preparedness. Objective: This research was conducted to evaluate the self-efficacy of nursing students in disaster response. Method: This research was a cross-sectional study. The research was carried out with 147 nursing students studying at a foundation university in Istanbul between March and April 2021. Socio-demographic question form and Disaster Response Self-Efficacy Scale were used to collect data. Results: In our study, the total score average of the Disaster Response Self-Efficacy Scale was found to be 65.0615.98. Total scores of the Disaster Response Self-Efficacy Scale were found to be higher in fourth grade students. It was observed that the total average score of the students who took a course or training on disaster management was statistically significantly higher than the students who did not (t=7.913; p=0.000). There was a statistically significant positive correlation between the mean score of the Disaster Response Self-Efficacy Scale and age (r=0.392; p=0.000). Conclusion: As a result of this study, it was observed that the students taking disaster management course had better disaster response self-efficacy.
